RixardTattoo: Unleashing a Symphony of Ink and Innovation

Step into the extraordinary world of RixardTattoo, a Spanish artist rewriting the narrative of tattoo artistry with every stroke. Since 2019, RixardTattoo has been crafting controversial works that transcend the boundaries of traditional tattooing. Outdoor ink rituals, unusual objects, and a sprinkle of irony and humor—all orchestrated to provoke reactions and leave an indelible mark on the viewer.

Born in Valladolid, Spain, RixardTattoo's journey has been a nomadic adventure, weaving through the vibrant streets of Salamanca, Barcelona, Valencia, Buenos Aires, and presently, the eclectic landscape of Amsterdam. Rooted in graffiti since 2003, his experiences in different cities have infused his tattooing with a dynamic energy that defies geographical constraints. But RixardTattoo is more than a tattoo artist; he's a multidisciplinary artist, a maestro exploring various creative realms. Starting as a self-taught tattooist in 2012, he embraced tattooing more seriously in 2017, perfecting his style. In 2019, a personal project unfolded—a fusion of tattooing and performance art. Dadaism, pataphysics, conceptual art, and more became the threads woven into the fabric of his artistic identity.

The genesis of RixardTattoo's tattooing journey is unique. Graffiti was his muse, and the transition to tattooing was an unexpected but passionate affair. "I enjoy meeting new people and socializing, as well as knowing that my work is alive and transforms over time," he shares, proud that his innovative approach leaves an indelible mark on history. Education plays a crucial role in RixardTattoo's artistic evolution. With a background in Fine Arts and a master's in Visual Arts and Multimedia, he extends beyond the tattoo studio. His self-taught journey in tattooing, coupled with skills from rap music and video editing, shapes a distinctive artistic identity.

For RixardTattoo, art is about research and experimentation, a sentiment he passionately expresses. His critique of presumptuous tattoo artists challenges the norm, asserting that art goes beyond mere ornamentation and requires a deeper understanding. In the vast landscape of inspiration, RixardTattoo's influences extend beyond the tattoo scene. Friends and artists like @nonerta_kills, @jeniahawaika, and @trashtodd inspire him. In the broader art world, figures like Roman Signer, Bas Jan Ader, Nug Pablo Rochat, and Jan Erichsen fuel his creative fire.

The heart of RixardTattoo's artistry lies in his performance pieces. From the chaotic 'drone tattoo' of 2020 to the humor-laden 'Bite on the buttocks' and the minimalistic cactus tattoo, each piece is a daring exploration, a dissonance with classic tattooing that evokes a range of emotions.

Approaching a new performance piece is a collaborative odyssey. Through interviews, whether written, by phone, or video call, RixardTattoo delves into client preferences, occupations, and admiration for his work. The result is a personalized tattoo performance—a fusion of client and artist visions.

For aspiring tattoo artists, RixardTattoo offers sage advice: "Train yourself in something related to art, broaden your mind, and then dedicate yourself to experience everything." Authenticity, disdain for imitation, and acknowledgment of sources are his principles.
